Sons of Anarchy Trailer: SAMCR
Jax Teller is on the warpath.
FX has dropped the first official trailer for Sons of Anarchy‘s seventh and final season, and… hell hath no fury like SAMCRO’s widowed leader scorned.
The show’s super-sized premiere airs Tuesday, Sept. 9.
Kurt Sutter is going out with guns a-blazing for his final season of “Sons of Anarchy.” To prepare viewers for a wild last ride, the mastermind behind the FX series is giving fans a taste of what they should expect in Season 7 with a look at the final season poster of “SoA.”
In the image (above), viewers can see a shirtless Jax (played by Charlie Hunnam) slipping his gun into the back of his perfectly fitted — and SAMCRO decorated — jeans. But for once it’s not Hunnam’s seriously sculpted arms we’re staring at. In the haunting promotional poster Hunnam’s bare back gave us chills, revealing an exaggerated version of his SAMCRO tattoo.
As we all know, Hunnam sports the official ink of the Sons of Anarchy on his back, which is complete with an axe-bearing skeleton. However, in the final season poster, Jax’s skull is amplified to expose a realistic looking skeleton emerging from the back of our protagonist.
It’s super creepy – and extremely symbolic. Could this promo poster be hinting that Jax will become some sort of a Reaper when Season 7 returns? Sutter hinted that answer during the 2014 “Sons of Anarchy” Comic-Con panel held in San Diego.
“This season will be the most proactive for Jax,” he revealed. “He’s driven, with a singular purpose. Rather than being a reactor to chaos, he will be the inciter. It’s almost like writing a brand new character.”
Jax has evolved from an empathetic character to a vengeance-seeking killing machine in the past six seasons – and we can’t exactly blame him. Not only has he watched his best friend, Opie, die a brutal death, but now Jax is dealing with the vicious murder of his wife, which took place during the Season 6 finale.
Now, in Season 7, Jax will roll up his leather sleeves and attempt to seek revenge from all those who wronged him – or at least, from those he thinkswronged him. According to reports, Jax will wrongly punish someone for Tara’s demise and rumor has it that it’s not going to be pretty.
“Jax was always so tortured by the pull of who he thought he should be,” Charlie Hunnam explained to TV Guide. “There’s something really liberating about being rid of the sense of having to be a good guy. This is about Jax deciding, if he’s got no reason to leave [the outlaw world], he may as well be what this world demands you be.”
Could this mean Jax will become the newest villain on “Sons of Anarchy” when the show returns Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 10 p.m. EDT. Sound off with your thoughts and predictions about Jax’s deadly transformation in the comments section below.
