Marlins to sign Giancarlo Stanton to 13-year, $325 million deal
The Miami Marlins and outfielder Giancarlo Stanton have a deal in place that will pay Stanton $325 million over 13 years, sources tied to the team told Jon Heyman of CBS Sports on Monday.
The deal will also give Stanton an early opt-out clause and a no-trade provision. According to Heyman’s sources, Stanton, 25, would be able to invoke the opt-out clause soon after he turns 30.
The deal exceeds Alex Rodriguez’s $275 million contract with the New YorkYankees, signed in 2008. Stanton’s deal would be the largest in American sports history.
