Katy Perry caught up in paparazzi fray in Sydney
Katy Perry has slammed the Australian media after claiming she was stalked by “many grown men” on Saturday.
The pop star, who kicked off the Sydney leg of her Prismatic tour on Friday night, posted an open letter addressed to the Australian press condemning the actions of the local photographers.
“You should be ashamed of your paparazzi and tabloid culture. Your paparazzi have no respect, no integrity, no character. NO HUMANITY,” she wrote to her 60.3 million followers.
“I was stalked by many grown men today as I tried to take a quiet walk to the beach. These men would not stop as I pleaded over and over to let me have my space.
“Many other people stopped to try to help but the paps continued to laugh at me and hold their barrels up and shoot. They told me to make a ‘deal’ with them. Give them a bathing suit shot and they would leave me be.”
She then took photos of her alleged stalkers and posted their images online.
After starting the 23-show Australian leg of her world tour in Perth two weeks ago the I Kissed A Girl star took some time out on Hayman Island where she not only promoted the idyllic Whitsunday Islands but did so while wearing a $99 bikini by local label Gorman.
She has also set up and made unannouced appearances at a number of pop up shops in Melbourne and Sydney for fans wanting to purchase merchandise and view props and costumes from previous shows.
Perry will call Australia home for a number of weeks while she performs another five shows in Sydney as well as five in Brisbane and four in Melbourne.
She will also appear at the ARIA Awards in Sydney on Wednesday.
